Modified Attendance and Deadline Agreement Instructions
Blinn College District Office of Disability Services requires students with a disability-related need for flexibility in attendance or deadlines to meet with Disability Services. During this meeting, the extent of reasonable accommodations related to attendance will be discussed and clarified for each course. After this discussion, both the student and instructor should clearly understand the agreed-upon accommodations. Disability Services is available to assist with any questions or concerns regarding these accommodations.
Accommodations begin when the instructor acknowledges receipt of the student's Letter of Accommodation and should be implemented within two business days. Accommodations are not retroactive.
Guidelines for Disability-Related Absences
-
Students should notify instructors no later than the end of the second business day after an absence or missed deadline.
-
Students cannot be asked for a doctor's note for absences related to their documented disability.
-
Students are responsible for making up missed work and obtaining any notes or assignments missed during their absence.
-
Absences will be prorated based on the remaining weeks of the course.
If instructors feel these guidelines may not align with the nature of the course or specific assignments, they should contact Disability Services for further assistance.
