Blinn-Schulenburg hosting medication aide refresher course

June 2 class will meet state's ongoing education requirements

The Blinn College-Schulenburg Campus will host a medication aide refresher course this summer that meets annual state requirements for certified medication aides.

The one-day, $75 course will meet Monday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Schulenburg Campus. Registered nurse Linda Rabel will lead the training.

The course includes training in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, safeguarding medications, and common drug reactions and side effects. It will also include an update on new medications available.

The course satisfies the Texas Health and Human Services Commission requirement for certified medication aides to complete at least seven hours of in-service education annually.
